The Inspiration Behind Little Navy

After becoming pregnant with our second child, Navy, I rejoined the workforce so we could live comfortably again. During this time, we sent our son Hudson to daycare. Although Hudson was only in daycare for a short while, the experience was every parent’s nightmare. 

Hudson did not like going to daycare, crying and pleading with us not to leave him. He was sick a lot and picking him up early was nearly impossible since both my husband and I were commuting over an hour for work.  

Worst of all, the daycare supervisor at the daycare centre was arrested/charged (and eventually convicted) for creating and distributing child pornography and other related assault charges.  Sadly, many of his young victims were from the centre. 

The day he was arrested was the day we took Hudson out of daycare. Thankfully Hudson was not directly affected but as a mom, my heart was broken. I felt an overwhelming urge to stay home and keep my children safe, but I needed an income. 

After Navy was born I bought a sewing machine.  I taught myself how to sew in between feeds and naps. I figured out how to design and print on fabric and starting making beautiful personalized keepsakes for my friends and family. That’s when Little Navy was born.

And as our family grows, so does Little Navy.  We have moved into our own Design Studio, in Guelph Ontario, which offers in-store shopping with both personalized and ready-made items for your convenience. We are continually adding more Exclusive Designs to our collections, along with new product lines and many more collaborations.
